Mr. Boston - one of the most sought Vectrex games

August 17, 2009

Mr. Boston - one of the most sought Vectrex games.

Essentially the exact same game as Clean Sweep, but in this case the liquor company Mr. Boston commissioned this promotional version of the game for the Vectrex. Very few (four?) cartridges are known to exist. The last Mr Boston Cart sold for $3400.00 cash plus a boxed Bandai Vectrex. It is listed at www.gamesniped.com as number seven of the ten worlds most expensive video games ever!

Vectrex Mini-Cade Data Recovered

April 5, 2009

Before the Mini-Cade was discovered, it was rumored to exist as several people reminded an arcade cabinet in the public areas playing Minestorm. This could be the system they saw. There are seven systems known to exist. Two systems were found in the Massachusetts state.

The Minicade is a table-top arcade system that was built in 1982 by a society named ESI in the Boston area in the USA. The Mini-Cade is interesting for the Vectrex collectors because it's built arround a vectrex system. It's like if the Vectrex system was taken back to its original roots: after all, the Vectrex was made to bring home the arcade excitement.

Many thanks to the owners Nico and Chris for offering photos and informations!

VECTREXIANS: New batch of 150 copies has been produced

April 5, 2009

VECTREXIANS:  New batch of 150 copies has been produced, so VECTREXIANS is fully available again !

No need to introduce this classic anymore, shoot Your way through the attacking alien convoys... There are some improvements done on the preliminary version, which was posted for a long time on my site : corrected bugs, implemented an intro-screen and improved sound-effects more to the original.

That’s right, you can find more info on the Vectrexians-Preorder page on how to do the ordering and payment.. Those who are not yet on the list can still send me a mail.

Main differences of new vectrexians:

- Calibration menu to compensate drift.
- Players-ship is drawn more stable.
- "difficulty" menu (1=easy, 2 = normal, 3 = hard)
- Introduction intermission ("we are the vectrexians")
- Enemies move faster in the convoy.
- Enhanced sound more to the original, including the background noise that irritated a lot of people :-)
- A 3D rendered animation In the beginning of the game
- A 3D rendered animation during the end-game (after beating level 20)
- End credits
- A pause-button (button 3)
